Zambia, Morocco to harmonise academic qualifications

Zambia and Morocco have held discussions centered on the recognition of Moroccan qualifications, particularly for programmes not currently offered in Zambian universities.
The collaboration aims to ensure Zambian students graduating from Moroccan institutions seamlessly integrate their qualifications back home, thereby enhancing their career prospects and contributions to national development.
Higher Education Loans & Scholarships Board -HELSB- Chairperson GEOFFREY SAMUKONGA and his delegation have visited the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Innovation to address critical issues surrounding the recognition of Moroccan qualifications.
AND Zambia Qualifications Authority -ZAQA-, Chief Executive Officer MERCY NGOMA emphasised the importance of mutual recognition of qualifications to facilitate academic and professional mobility between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Director General of the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education SANA ZEBA provided an overview of Morocco’s higher education strategy, highlighting the country’s commitment to quality education and international collaboration.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement that the Zambia Qualifications Authority will share the specific requirements needed to resolve the challenges in recognising Moroccan qualifications.
This will particularly address the specific programmes in Moroccan institutions that are not available in Zambia.
The Zambian delegation included -HELSB- board members MAURICE HICHILEMA, Dr. SAM MBEWE, and Chief executive officer Dr. JOHN MACHAYI.
Others were DERRICK CHISANGA, Deputy Director of Credit & Scholarships; EDITH SAMBOKO, Manager of Scholarships; and KASIKWA GONDWE, Manager of Strategy & Partnerships.
