“Govt working with Partners to Provide food to people affected by Drought”
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says government is working with cooperating partners to provide food to those affected by drought.
The President says the government is also building resilience to mitigate effects of climate change by diversifying energy sources as well as investing in irrigation.
President HICHILEMA was speaking when he graced the BENE MUKUNI Traditional Ceremony of the Toka-Leya people in Kazungula District in Southern Province.
The ceremony attracted over 50 Chiefs.
And President HICHILEMA has called for UNITY and urged traditional leaders to continue supporting each other.
The President says traditional ceremonies are cardinal in bringing the country together and should be used as a platform of unity in the development agenda.
President HICHILEMA also urged all citizens to embrace traditional ceremonies and cherish their cultural heritage.
And Local Government and Rural Development Minister GARY NKOMBO says the country is in safe hands with President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA who has continued to encourage national unity.
Meanwhile, Director General of the Bene Mukuni Lwiindi Organising Committee JONAS SHAKAFUSWA says this year’s turn-out is proof that traditional leaders can unite the country.
Mr SHAKAFUSWA says Zambia is united and urged political leaders to desist from attempts to divide the country.
