Elephants kill pregnant woman in Chama
Elephants have killed a 26 year old pregnant woman in Chief Chifunda’s area in Chama District.
JOYCE LUNGU of Teweti Village met her fate around 09:00 hours yesterday when she was coming from the funeral with her husband.
Mapamba Ward Councillor, SAM MSHANGA says the couple had gone for the funeral of their grandmother.
Mr. MSHANGA says the two met a herd of elephants which started chasing them, killing his wife.
He has called on the government to find a lasting situation to human-animal conflict in the area.
And Department of National Parks and Wildlife, Chama District Area Warden VICTOR MAKOMBE says the department is doing its best to protect the lives of people.
