Govt to deregister Health facilities abusing NHIMA

Health Minister, SLYVIA MASEBO has warned that any facilities found misusing National Health Insurance Management Authority – NHIMA- services will be closed down and deregistered.

Speaking in Ndola, Ms MASEBO said the government has lost millions of Kwacha through the misuse and abuse of the NHIMA scheme by some health facilities in the past.

The Minister said there is need to cleanse and close all loopholes in the scheme to prevent the government from losing money.

Ms MASEBO further said as of last month the Ministry of health suspended the registration of new private health facilities with NHIMA.

She said the move is aimed at ensuring public health facilities and hospitals across the country are registered because it is the government’s priority to ensure health services are taken closer to the people.
