HH calls on Church to Help in Drought Mitigation efforts
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has called on the church to help Government in mitigating the effects of the drought on citizens.
And, President HICHILEMA has thanked the Reformed Church in ZAMBIA for working with government through the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit in CHAMA and CHADIZA Districts in the provision of food to affected people.
President HICHILEMA appealed to the RCZ to expand its coverage and called on the Church Leadership to engage with Secretary to the Cabinet PATRICK KANGWA to see which other areas they can help mitigate the drought effects.
The President was speaking in LUSAKA during the Reformed Church in Zambia 125 years celebration of existence .
President HICHILEMA said the Church is closer to the people, and that Government will take advantage of that, to deliver support to the people.
And responding to the Reformed Church in Zambia RCZ Synod Moderator ACKSON BANDA, who called on the President to engage his Predecessor, President HICHILEMA said that he will reach out to all politicians including Former President EDGAR LUNGU.
The President urged the Reformed Church of Zambia to continue uniting people.
Earlier, RCZ Synod Moderator ACKSON BANDA urged President Hichilema to be wary of some political elements that purport that the church is anti-government.
Reverend BANDA said that RCZ will never compete with the government and committed to work hand in hand to develop the country as both share similar interests of developing the country.
He said the church is ready to work with the government in implementing immediate life-saving and life-sustaining humanitarian and recovery needs for the most drought affected areas.
Meanwhile, delivering a sermon Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa’s Free State Director NICO MOSTERT called on ZAMBIAN to depend on GOD for healing in every aspect of life.
The Reformed Church in ZAMBIA-RCZ was founded on July 05, 1899 in MAGWERO, Eastern Province on the pedestal of the Dutch Reformed Church’s missionary works.
