Maamba Collieries discovers new coal resources to last 25 years

Maamba Collieries Limited has discovered new coal resources that can last over 25 years.
MCL Mining Engineer NYEMBA MWANZA says the coal resource was found on its 10 year mining blocks .
Ms MWANZA explains that one of the sites where mining and exploration is being undertaken is the Kaziza site.
She said this when special Assistant to the President JITO KAYUMBA visited the Izuma mining site.
And MCL Chief Operating officer DAVID KUMAR said the coal industry is lucrative and is contributing to the economy.
Mr KUMAR said aside 1,800 employees working at both the thermal power plant and mine, the company is indirectly creating jobs in other sectors due its production of low and high grade coal.
Meanwhile, Mr KAYUMBA praised the company for putting eco-friendly initiatives in place to mitigate air pollution.
