Chieftainess Waitwika thanks Political Parties for peaceful campaigns

Chieftainess WAITWIKA of the Namwanga people of Nakonde District has thanked political parties taking part in the Luchinde and Mulalo Local Government by-elections for conducting peaceful campaigns.

Chieftainess WAITWIKA says the campaigns in the two wards in her chiefdom are going on peacefully as political parties canvass for votes in various villages.

Speaking when Technology and Science Minister FELIX MUTATI paid a courtesy call on her at her Palace, Chieftainess WAITWIKA said she is hopeful that voting on Friday will go on peacefully.

Meanwhile, there were smiles and jubilation as the ruling UPND campaign team and opposition Patriotic Front campaign teams for the Mulalo Ward by-election met at Kasongwa Village.

Mr. MUTATI said the atmosphere in Nakonde is evidence that politics is a competition of ideas and not violence.

And Nakonde Member of Parliament LUCKY SIMUMBA, who was leading the PF campaign team, said the reason why peace is prevailing in the two ward by-elections is because Nakonde is well known for peace.
