UPND administration working round the clock to resolve power deficit
By Hannock Kasama
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says his administration is working round the clock to address the power deficit in the country.
President HICHILEMA also says the solution to the electricity deficit does not lie in protests and demonstrations but practical solutions.
He has taken a swipe at engineers in the country for failing to come up with innovative measures to tackle the power challenges.
The President has prodded the engineers following suggestions by CHINA Power to harvest water from the mines and diversion of water from the northern circuit to existing hydro power stations.
President HICHILEMA has subsequently directed Minister of Energy PETER KAPALA and his Water and Sanitation Counterpart COLLINS NZOVU to implement quick and practical solutions to the power deficit.
He said this when he conferred with the Power CHINA delegation at State House this afternoon.
Meanwhile Power CHINA Vice President JASON LIU has called for the procurement of Solar Roof Alternative Source of energy to cushion the current power deficit.
Mr. JASON also called for water harvesting and water diversion from the northern circuit to existing hydro power stations.
