China Railways Engineering Corporation has moved on site and started preparations for the construction of the Nakonde One-Stop Border Post facilities.
Zambia Revenue Authority Acting Assistant Commissioner CHINDONGWE CHIMUKA says the Chinese firm is expected to finish constructing the first phase of the One-Stop Border Post by September this year.
Mr. CHIMUKA says the first phase of the construction has been funded by Trade Mark East Africa while the second phase will be funded by the World Bank.
Speaking when Technology and Science Minister FELIX MUTATI visited the Nakonde One-Stop Border Post to check on operations, Mr. CHIMUKA said the second phase of the construction will start in September this year and end in 2025.
He said the current facilities are not adequate for the One-Stop Border Post as they do not support its full operation.
And Mr. MUTATI said the transformation of the Nakonde One-Stop Border Post will promote efficiency and facilitate trade.
He said gadgets will be installed at the border to monitor and control operations and avoid bad vices.
