Divorced man sets family on fire

A man of Kitwe’s Kawama Township has burned nine members of his family including a one year six months old grandson who died upon arrival at the hospital.

Eight out of nine members are nursing serious burns after the house they were sleeping in was burnt by the man.

Those in Kitwe Teaching Hospital include 56-year-old BEAUTY MAMBWE, who is the former wife of the suspect, her children and grandchildren.

Ms. MAMBWE explained to ZNBC News that her former husband was not happy that the court granted them divorce and threatened to kill his family.

And Kitwe Teaching Hospital medical Superintend SEKE KAZUMA said the victims were taken to the hospital at around 02:00 hours this morning with severe burns.

Dr KAZUMA said three of the patients are critical and receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit.
