MAGALETA demands K2.5m from NAWAKWI
By Hannock Kasama
Forum for Democracy and Development -FDD- leader EDITH NAWAKWI has been issued with a seven-day ultimatum to pay two point five million KWACHA as damages for defamation.
The claim has been filed by UPND member KENNETH MAGALETA in the LUSAKA High Court.
Mr. MAGALETA has taken legal action against Ms. NAWAKWI following her utterance that he dealt with the HATEMBO family members in a case they were contesting an alleged illegal purchase of their KALOMO Farm by President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA when he was an opposition leader.
Ms. NAWAKWI made the allegations between August 2020 and August 2021.
She alleged that Mr. MAGALETA facilitated the transportation of the HATEMBO family from KALOMO to LUSAKA on a mission for them to turn against their lawyers.
This was after the disposal of their case by the LUSAKA High Court.
Mr. MAGALETA has contended that the allegations have imputed damages to his reputation.
This is according to a statement of claim filed in the LUSAKA High Court.
