World Bank pledges $100m for infrastructure digitisation and internet access
The World Bank has pledged 100 million United States dollars to help speed up Zambia’s infrastructure digitisation and increase access to the internet.
World Bank Managing Director and Chief Administration Officer WENGCAI ZHANG says the Bank is preparing the ‘Digital Zambia Acceleration Project’.
Mr. ZHANG says the project will be financed through a combination of national and regional IDA, and a further 20 million US dollars in un-guaranteed commercial financing to Zambia.
He says the project aims to increase access to the Internet and digitally enabled services.
Mr. ZHANG was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Technology and Science Minister FELIX MUTATI in Lusaka.
And Mr. MUTATI has thanked the World Bank for providing 6 million US dollars for Project Preparedness Advance for the Digitisation Zambia Acceleration Project.
He says the project will help in promoting digitisation in the nation.
