ZESCO doing feasibility study to enhance power generation

ZESCO Limited is conducting a feasibility study on the possibilities of using available water to enhance power generation.

And Kafue River Basin Deputy Director CLEMENT SIAME says a consultant has been engaged to maximize water retention in the Itezhi Tezhi Dam.

Mr SIAME says Itezhi tezhi Lake has continued to record low water levels due to the impact of climate change.

He says the lake is key as it provides water for electricity generation at three power stations on the Kafue River Basin.

Mr. SIAME said this when he officials from ZESCO led over 20 Members of Parliament on a familiarisation tour of the Itezhi tezhi power station in Southern Province.

He says the power utility is exploring alternative measures to continue supplying electricity even in time of reduced water levels.

And Itezhi tezhi Member of Parliament TWAAMBO MUTINTA has commended the government for the measures to address power challenges in the country.
