Govt releases K7.2m for Lumezi school construction

Government has released 7.2 million Kwacha for the construction of Chitala Day Secondary School in Lumezi District.
The school is under the Zambia Education Enhancement Project and the construction has since commenced.
Eastern Province Education Officer BRAINLEY MALAMBO has since appealed to the local community to take an active role in the project.
Lumezi District Education Board Secretary MISOZI MWENYA says the new school will cater for more pupils who are forced to cover long distances to access secondary school education.
Meanwhile, Chief ZUMWANDA’s Induna SHADRECK MTONGA has pledged to work with the government during the construction of the school.
Lumezi District Buildings Officer ALLAN GONDWE said the project will also include the construction of teachers’ houses.
The school is part of the eight schools that the government is constructing in Eastern Province at a cost of 177.9 million Kwacha.
