“Govt is mobilizing regional and global opportunities for Private sector”
Government is mobilizing business opportunities regionally and globally to support the growth of the private sector in Zambia.
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA says Government will also assist private sector institutions, such as banks with operations beyond Zambia, by securing support from other governments where these institutions operate.
He noted that regional bodies like SADC are now focusing on creating business opportunities among member countries, in addition to political concerns.
Speaking at the launch of the new First Capital Bank Headquarters in Lusaka, President HICHILEMA said some investments secured by Government, such as new funding for KCM, are already benefiting the private sector.
He said part of the 245 million U.S Dollars released by Vedanta to settle KCM’s financial obligations will be received and processed by First Capital Bank.
Meanwhile, Lusaka Province Minister SHEAL MULYATA expressed confidence that the new bank headquarters will contribute to the growth of Zambia’s financial sector and economy.
And First Capital Bank Board Chairman MARK O’DONELL praised Government policies through the Bank of Zambia for encouraging new investments in the sector.
And, Interim Chief Executive Officer ANDRE POTGIETER noted that the bank has incorporated local shareholders and has a presence in five African countries.
