By Patricia Banda
Over 50 containers of medicine have been transported from J and J warehouse to Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency -ZAMMSA.
And Health Minister ELIJAH MUCHIMA says funds are being mobilised for ZAMMSA to distribute medicines and other medical supplies across the country.
Dr. MUCHIMA was speaking when he toured ZAMMSA offices and warehouse in Lusaka today.
Meanwhile, Dr. MUCHIMA is happy with progress of works at the new oxygen plant at the University Teaching Hospitals.
University Teaching Hospitals Senior Medical Superintendent JOHN KACHIMBA explained to the Minister that the facility needs to be equipped with oxygen facilities because there was a challenge during the COVID-19 outbreak.
At the same meeting, Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Technical Services KENNEDY LISHIMPI urged UTH management to ensure that patients are given medicines that are in stock.
This was in response to the Health Minister’s call that patients get prescriptions to buy medicines in private pharmacies when they can get at public health facilities.
