FRA Buys 190,400 bags of maize from Mpulungu
The Food Reserve Agency -FRA- has procured over 190,400 by 50kg bags of maize in Mpulungu district.
ZANIS reports that Northern Province Minister LEONARD MBAO who visited satellite depots in the district has expressed happiness with the progress made in purchasing maize.
Mr. MBAO says the purchases will help the district achieve its target of procuring 380,000 by 50 kg bags of white maize.
He has since encouraged farmers to continue taking their maize to FRA satellite depots in the district.
Mr MBAO has also expressed happiness with the growth of the agricultural sector in the district saying Mpulungu has potential to contribute to economic development of the country.
And Chief CHINAKILA has praised government for introducing more initiatives aimed at growing the agricultural sector in the country.
The traditional leader has however appealed to government to consider allowing farmers in the area to continue accessing inputs under the traditional FISP programme.
He says the area does not have reliable Internet and most farmers in his chiefdom are not conversant with electronic gadgets.
Chief CHINAKILA says government should conduct more sensitisation with farmers in the area before rolling out the e-voucher system.
