Police in Eastern Province says it will seek the services of a pathologist to verify an allegation that a 21-year-old woman of Chipangali District who died in 2019 has resurrected.
FELOPA MBEWE of Chiwete village in Chief Chinunda’s area committed suicide in 2019 and was later buried the following day.
Eastern Province Police Commanding ROBERTSON MWEEMBA says according to the parents of the deceased, before burial there was a strong whirlwind at the graveyard prompting people to scamper leaving the coffin unattended to.
Mr MWEEMBA said after some time the people went back and concluded the burial process.
He said after burial, the family used to encounter strange things to the extent that every time they left over food it used to be eaten by unknown people.
Mr MWEEMBA said the family engaged in prayers and one pastor from Chipata indicated that Felopa was alive and was living along the border with Malawi.
Her father went to pick her after a relative spotted her along the Zambia/Malawi border in Chipangali on 24th August 2024.
Mr MWEEMBA said the command has since engaged the office of the state pathologist to settle the matter.
He said the state pathologist is expected to exhume the body and do some DNA tests.
