Zambia to start making solar panels -Mulenga

Government says the country will by the end of this month start manufacturing solar panels and car batteries.
Commerce, Trade and Industry Minister CHIPOKA MULENGA says the production will be done in the Zambia-Jiangxi Economic Cooperation Zone in Chibombo District.
In an interview with ZNBC News, Mr. MULENGA also disclosed that the feasibility study on the manufacturing of Electric Vehicle -EV- batteries in Ndola has been completed.
Mr. MULENGA said the study shows that the EV batteries manufacturing plant can be set up cheaply in Zambia than in any part of the world as the raw materials are readily available.
He said the study was financed by the African Export -Import Bank -Afriexim Bank.
He adds that the Government is ready to set up the plant in Ndola adding that it is however waiting for the Democratic Republic of Congo to do its part.
