ZYEELE is new Zambia Army Commander

President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has promoted Major General GEOFFREY ZYEELE to the rank of Lieutenant General and appointed him as the new Zambia Army Commander.
Lieutenant General ZYEELE previously served as Deputy Army Commander.
Lieutenant General ZYEELE takes over from Zambia Army Commander, SITALI ALIBUZWI whose contract has not been renewed by the President.
The President swore in Lieutenant General ZYEELE at State House in Lusaka this afternoon.
At the same event, Brigadier General LUSWEPO SINYINZA was promoted to Major General and appointed as Deputy Army Commander and Chief of Staff.
President HICHILEMA urged the two senior army officers to serve the nation diligently and contribute to addressing the country’s economic challenges through productive initiatives.
He has also congratulated the former Army Commander on his distinguished career in the Zambia Army and wished him God’s blessings pending his redeployment in the diplomatic service.
The President has also appointed RAMAS KAMANGA as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water Development and Sanitation.
President HICHILEMA called on Mr. KAMANGA to focus on resolving water scarcity issues by promoting water conservation and harvesting initiatives.
In addition, the President has appointed ALFRED MUSEMUNA as Zambia’s High Commissioner to Kenya.
President HICHILEMA encouraged Mr. MUSEMUNA to adhere to a performance-based approach to diplomacy, aligned with Zambia’s foreign policy centered on peace and economic diplomacy.
