Archbishop BANDA’s vehicle forfeited to the state

The Drug Enforcement Commission – DEC- has forfeited to the state a motor vehicle belonging to Lusaka Diocese Archbishop ALICK BANDA.
DEC Public Relations Officer, ALLAN TAMBA says this follows credible evidence that the vehicle in question was irregularly acquired by the registered owner.
Mr. TAMBA says the vehicle was seized from the Archbishop, who later submitted it through his legal representatives on December 27, 2023.
In an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka, Mr. TAMBA said that as of June 27, 2024, Archbishop BANDA had not claimed the vehicle, nor had any legal proceedings regarding the vehicle been initiated by the Commission.
He further explained that after six months from the date of seizure, any unclaimed seized property is deemed to be legally forfeited to the State.
Mr. TAMBA said the Commission is unable to provide further details on the matter, as the vehicle in question is also involved in other ongoing legal cases.
