By Alice Lubasi
President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has directed the Ministry of Tourism through the Museum Board to start the process of writing life histories of freedom fighters while they are still alive.
This is to ensure that the information taken down is authentic, as it comes from the owner of the data when they are still able to tell the story.
President HICHILEMA made the directive in a speech read on his behalf by Tourism Minister RODNEY SIKUMBA at the official renaming of Long Acres Mall to Kenneth Kaunda -KK- Mall in Lusaka today.
He said the Mall will add to the iconic legacy and remembrance of Dr. KAUNDA as it is a great attraction to local and foreign tourists in terms of shopping experience and leisure.
And Museum Board Chairperson ALEXANDER MUTALI said the renaming of the Mall will serve as a constant reminder especially to the younger generation of the sacrifice made by the founding father of the nation.
Meanwhile, Public Service Pension Fund -PSPF Board Member MAKAYI MAKAYI said Kenneth Kaunda Mall will stand as a symbol of the country’s collective appreciation for Dr. KAUNDA’s contributions to society.
