Home Affairs and Internal Security Minister JACK MWIIMBU has directed the Immigration Department to address perceived corruption within its ranks.
Mr. MWIIMBU has stated that there is a public perception that the Immigration Department is infiltrated by corrupt officers.
He says that while the Department is not full of corrupt officials, there are a few bad eggs that have tarnished its reputation.
Mr. MWIIMBU was speaking when he graced the pass out parade for 367 Immigration Assistants intake of 2024 at Lilayi Police training collage in Lusaka today.
The Minister also urged the graduating officers to uphold professionalism and exhibit integrity as they take up their new roles.
And Immigration Department Director General JAPHET LISHOMWA said the recruitment of the 787 immigration officers and border guards in two years is something unprecedented for the Department.
Dr. LISHOMWA said this is why the Department has devolved a strategic plan to enhance its operations.
