Counting of votes starts in Kabalenge and Chidi Ward By-elections
Counting of votes in the Kabalenge and Chidi Ward By-elections has started.
The by-elections were being held in Kabalenge ward in Mwansabombwe District of Luapula Province and the CHIDI Ward of ZIMBA District of Southern province.
In the Kabelenge ward election, three candidates are contesting the seat which fell vacant after former ward Councillor JUSTINE NGOSA was deployed in the civil service.
The candidates are RICHARD KASEMBELE of the United Party for National Development, SAM MWANSA of the Patriotic Front and JONATHAN MAMBWE of the Socialist Party.
Meanwhile, in CHIDI Ward in Mapatizya Constituency in Zimba district, the by-election was necessitated by the death of a councillor, ABSON SEKELETI who died in July this year.
Three candidates GEVERS SIALWIINDI of the Leadership Movement, TONKA MAPULANGA of the Socialist Party and UPND’S IVAN SEEMANI are contesting for the vacant position of Councillor for CHIDI Ward.
