ACC recovers properties valued at K300m

The Anti-Corruption Commission -ACC- has recovered a number of properties with a total value of 300 million Kwacha since 2021.
ACC Acting Director General, MONICA MWANSA says the properties were forfeited to the state through both court conviction and non-court conviction based processes.
Ms. Mwansa says one of the properties is a house in Lusaka New Kasama valued at six million Kwacha and Jewelry valued at 90,000 Kwacha.
She says the commission has also recovered cash amounting to 65,057, 900 US dollars within the same period.
Ms MWANSA has told ZNBC news that in 2022 the commission recovered property, worth 46 million Kwacha.
In 2023, property worth 10 million Kwacha was forfeited to the state.
She has further disclosed that in 2024 several properties have been forfeited to the state involving businessmen and former government officials.
Ms MWANSA says the commission is waiting for judgment from the Economic Financial Crimes Court on properties valued at 13-million Kwacha.
The commission is also awaiting judgement on television personality Faith Musonda’s properties worth 244,000 dollars.
She says the commission is also waiting for a pending forfeiture judgement for former Lusaka Province Minister, BOWMAN LUSAMBO, involving property valued at 193,000 dollars.
