Acid Spill Kills 25-Year-Old in Kitwe

A 25-year-old Man has died after acid from the tanker truck spilled on him as it was being offloaded at Rongxing Investment Company on Mufulira road in Kitwe.

It is alleged that DICKSON NYONI was burnt to near skeleton after the offloading pipe disconnected from the truck while parked at the offloading bay.

In a statement released to ZNBC news in Kitwe, Copperbelt Police Commissioner PEACEWELL MWEEMBA said the accident happened on Sunday around 16:30 hours.

And his workmate and eyewitness SMART BANDA said NYONI managed to run for a few meters to the nearby water tap in an attempt to wash off the acid but in the process he fell in the drainage full of acid and was burnt.

NYONI’s remains have been deposited into Kitwe Teaching Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and an Inquiry file has been opened
