Activists Calls for Fast Track Courts to Deal with Child Abuse
Good Governance and Human Rights Activist SIKAILE SIKAILE has called on Government to consider establishing a fast track courts for child defilement cases.
In a letter to the Justice Minister PRINCESS KASUNE and made available to ZNBC News, Mr. SIKAILE said a dedicated fast track system would reinforce Zambia’s commitment to protecting children and ensure justice is served efficiently.
He said the prolonged legal process often leads to the intimidation of victims, witnesses and loss of evidence.
Mr SIKAILE has also urged the Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security to establish a specialised investigative unit dedicated to handling child defilement cases.
He has also proposed for a creation of a whistle blower system that allows citizens to report suspected cases of child abuse and defilement anonymously.
