Ballots arrive in Chirundu for Njame ward by-elections
(ZANIS) Ballot papers and other election materials have arrived in Chirundu District ahead of the Njame Ward by-elections slated for July 12, 2024.
Chirundu District Electoral Officer (DEO), EMBASSY CHEEMBO has confirmed the arrival of the materials which was witnessed by key electoral stakeholders that include participating political parties and independent candidates’ agents.
Mr CHEEMBO has assured all key electoral stakeholders of the safety of the materials now, during and after the polls.
Mr CHEEMBO praised aspiring candidates and their election agents for embracing issue- based political campaigns that have largely been attributed to peaceful campaigns.
The United Party for National Development -UPND- is fielding WEBSTER CHIYOTA, while Socialist Party (SP) has fielded JOSAM MOONGA and WILFRED MWEENE is contesting as an independent candidate.
The seat fell vacant after the resignation of the incumbent UPND Councillor, PARK HAZIBWENE following his deployment as a teacher in the last teacher recruitment exercise.
