Bridge Installation Starts on Great East Road

Works to install an Acrow bridge in Chinyunyu area of Rufunsa District, on the Great East road have started.

The works being done by the Road Development Agency -RDA- and the Zambia National Service -ZNS- have been necessitated by the washing away of part of the road by heavy rains.

But some travelling members of the public who expressed ignorance about the closure of the road have been left stranded.

They say they have been inconvenienced as they did not know that the road would be closed to pave way for works.

And Lusaka province Minister SHEAL MULYATA who inspected works on the bridge assured the public that it is in their best interest that the bridge is worked on.

Ms. MULYATA said government understands the economic importance of the Great East road hence the quick dispatch of the team working on the bridge.

Works will be done in the next two to three days, after which the road will be open to the public.
