Brother murders sister after she attempted to stop him from beating their mother

A 25-year-old woman of Nyimba District, Eastern Province, has been murdered by her elder brother.

Lebetina Phiri, of Sindilani Village in Chief Ndake’s area met her fate when she attempted to settle the differences between her mother and her brother Ackim Milambo around 14: 00 hours yesterday.

Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba said the deceased was beaten to death by her brother when she queried him for beating their mother.

Mr. Mweemba said the suspect was angered by her sister’s approach and started beating her together with his wife.

He said the suspects beat the deceased with a stick and stones.

Mr. Mweemba said the deceased sustained a broken skull and was bleeding from the head.
