Cash for Work: Councils given ultimatum
By Honester Mshoka
The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has issued a ten day ultimatum to all local authorities to disburse funds for the Cash for Work programme.
Ministry Permanent Secretary in charge of Technical Services, NICHOLAS PHIRI says the directive follows a meeting chaired by Secretary to the Cabinet, PATRICK KANGWA to review the programme’s implementation.
Mr. PHIRI says during the meeting, Mr. KANGWA stated that the delay in implementing government programmes including Cash for Work is unacceptable.
He added that this is because the programme aims to secure livelihoods for households affected by the 2023 -2024 drought.
This is according to a statement issued to ZNBC News by Ministry Principal Public Relations Officer, LISELI’ KANYANGA.
