Cash in Transit Cashier shot and robbed of K425,000
Armed criminals have shot and wounded a Cashier at a named company in Choma, Southern province, before getting away with various items, including money.
The incident happened yesterday around 18 hours at Marient General Dealers, which deals in money transfer services.
The Cashier was taking cash money and other items from his employer’s premises to NAPSA building, when he was intercepted and attacked by three criminals, who were armed with a Pistol.
The criminals shot the Cashier, grabbed the money, which was in a bag, as well as other items, before getting away in a white unregistered Toyota Corolla.
Southern Province Police Commanding Officer, AUXENSIO DAKA has confirmed the shooting and identified the victim as O’BRIAN MWEEMBA, aged 22.
Mr DAKA explained that the criminals stole over 425,000 Kwacha cash, as well as over 5 mobile phones, all property of Mr MWEEMBA’s employers.
Police have opened investigations into the matter.
