CDF: Mafinga uses K1.2m to build immigration office
By Ruth Chayinda
Over 1.2 million Kwacha under the Constituency Development Fund has been used to construct the first ever immigration office at Mulekatembo border in Mafinga district.
Mafinga Council Secretary JOSEPH NONDE says the decision to construct an immigration office at the border is aimed at facilitating smooth cross border movement between Zambia and Malawi.
Mr. NONDE said this in an interview with journalists shortly after touring the immigration office at Mulekatembo border.
He has however noted that there has been a delay in handing over the building because water supply has not yet been connected to the building.
Mr NONDE says the contractor has procured materials for water reticulation at a cost of 270 ,000 Kwacha.
And Mafinga Member of Parliament ROBERT CHABINGA says CDF has helped improve the status of the district through construction of various infrastructure.
Mr. CHABINGA says Mafinga is yearning for more development and will continue to use CDF to improve lives of people.
Meanwhile, Mafinga Council Chairperson DUNCAN KAONGA says the council has plans to set up a trading centre using the devolution trust fund.
Mr. KAONGA says traders from both Malawi and Zambia will effectively transact once the trading centre is completed.
