CEC hands over Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to Kitwe Teaching Hospital
The Copperbelt Energy Corporation has handed over the newly constructed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to Kitwe Teaching Hospital.
The Intensive Care Unit has been constructed at a cost of three million kwacha.
CEC has also handed over the renovated Children’s Lutembwe Ward to the hospital bringing the total cost for the two projects to over seven million kwacha.
And Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO says the government is dedicated to working with the corporate world in improving the quality of health care delivery in the country.
Ms MASEBO says the creation of the first ever Pediatric ICU at Kitwe Teaching Hospital is a major achievement for the country in the provision of quality health care services to children.
She says before the creation of the new children’s ICU, children at the hospital were mixed with adults in the main Intensive Care Unit.
Ms MASEBO says government is working tirelessly to expand health-care services in the country and the development at Kitwe Teaching Hospital is testament to good relations with the business community.
And Copperbelt Energy Corporation Board chairperson LONDON MWAFULILWA says CEC will continue to supplement government efforts in improving the quality of health care services in the country.
Earlier, The Copperbelt Energy Corporation Acting Chief Executive Officer VINCENT NYIRENDA thanked Kitwe Teaching Hospital administration for the effective collaboration with CEC that saw the successful completion of the new pediatric ICU and the renovation
of the children’s ward.
Meanwhile, Kitwe Teaching Hospital Senior Medical Superintendent SEKE KAZUMA has thanked the government for the support it is giving to the hospital in upgrading infrastructure.
Dr. KAZUMA has also praised CEC for its continued good relationship with the hospital that has resulted in the creation of the first ever Children’s ICU.
Kitwe District Commissioner LAWRENCE MWANZA and Kitwe Mayor MPASA MWAYA who was represented by Deputy Mayor ALEX MWANGO have thanked the CEC for its gesture.
