The Ministry of Health says it has reduced the under-five mortality rates due to various interventions aimed at improving child health.
And Health Minister SLYVIA MASEBO has attributed the decline in demand and utilisation of routine child immunisations in the last two years to the covid-19 and cholera pandemics.
Speaking during the Launch of the First round of the Child Health Week, Ms MASEBO said the Ministry has targeted to reach 80 percent of full Child immunisation.
Ms. MASEBO also said protecting and improving children’s health is key for sustainable national development.
She further urged healthcare providers and community leaders to work together to ensure all children access these services.
Meanwhile, Ms MASEBO said the Cholera outbreak in the Eastern Province has been contained and that no deaths have been recorded.
She said the Ministry will next week start an exercise to close down places with poor sanitary conditions.
