
Children’s Code Act to be Strengthened
Government has intensified efforts to strengthen the Children’s Code Act to enhance protection of children against various forms of abuse.
The Children’s Code Act provides for the protection and promotion of general wellbeing of Children in Zambia.
Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Permanent Secretary Angela Kawandami says this is because children continue to face challenges which include abuse, defilement and neglect in homes.
Speaking during a stakeholders engagement meeting on Child’s rights , Ms. Kawandami said the meeting will strengthen collaboration between Government and stakeholders to ensure a harmonized and multi-sectoral approach to Child Protection.
She said this in a speech read on her behalf by the Ministry’s Director Human Resource Mala Sikazwe.
And Ministry of Community Development and Social Services Chief Child Development Officer Luckson Chimpampa said there is need to advocate for policies that are Child friendly.
