China to help Zambia end load shedding
By Ruth Chayinda
China says it will help Zambia end load shedding through the implementation of cooperation agreements that will generate at least an additional 720 Megawatts.
Chinese Ambassador to Zambia HAN JING says once the projects are completed, the country will have sustainable power supply.
He says among the 10 cooperation agreements that have been signed, one of them is on supplying, delivery and installations of rooftop solar systems projects in Zambia between Zesco and Power China.
Mr. HAN however says the 720 MW excludes rooftop solar systems but incorporates various other energy projects such as the Kariba North Solar Powerplant, Kafue Gorge Lower Solar Power Plant among others.
He said this during a press briefing on the Forum on China Africa Cooperation -FOCAC- and President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s visit to China.
He also described the signing of the MOU for the revitalization of the TAZARA corridor as a dynamic economic and a symbol of traditional friendship.
