Chipangali gets K28.3m for Cash for Work

Government has allocated 28.3 million Kwacha for the implementation of the Cash for Work programme in Chipangali District in Eastern Province.
A total of 7, 866 people are expected to benefit from the programme.
Speaking at the launch of the programme, Chipangali District Commissioner PAUL SAKALA said the initiative will help families facing food insecurity.
Chipangali Council Chairperson MAXSON NKHOMA says although the launch of the programme has been delayed it will be implemented within the timeframe.
Meanwhile, Chief CHINUNDA of Chipangali has noted the impact of programmes introduced to help improve people’s living standards.
He says cash for work, social cash transfer and other poverty reduction programmes are being implemented by the government and are bearing fruit.
Chief CHINUNDA has since pledged that traditional leaders will work with the government in improving the welfare of people.
