Chipata to Install 1,000 Solar-Powered Street Lights in Next 2 Years
By Christopher Miti
Chipata Mayor, George Mwanza, says the local authority has embarked on a program to install 1,000 solar-powered street lights in Chipata in the next two years.
Mr. Mwanza says the local authority will prioritize low-income communities.
He said compounds like Mchini and Nabvutika will be given special attention because of the security situation.
Mr. Mwanza was speaking when he graced the Fight Inequality walk at St. Atanazio Parish in Chipata.
And Fighting Inequality Alliance National Coordinator, Mputa Ngalande, has appealed to policymakers to enact laws that will compel companies to respect corporate social responsibility.
Meanwhile, Saint Atanazio Parish priest, Fr. Mark Mwanza, said the Catholic Church will continue fighting for the poor.
