Civil Servants warned over Social Cash Transfer
ZANIS- Government has directed civil servants charged with the responsibility of identifying beneficiaries under the Social Cash Transfer program to only register qualified people.
Chief Government Spokesperson CORNELIUS MWEETWA says the government is concerned that a number of beneficiaries in rural districts have not yet been captured.
Mr. MWEETWA says it is the government’s desire that those captured in the system should not take long to start receiving the funds.
He also stressed that in many communities people are being registered for social cash transfer but only a few or none are receiving the funds.
Mr. MWEETWA who is also Minister of Information and Media directed the district authorities under the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services to up their game.
He was speaking in Sikalongo area in Choma district at the burial of a senior citizen, ELIZABETH DINDE, who is the mother of Financial Intelligence Center Board Chairperson SIMACHECHE DINDE.
The Minister indicated that President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA has given guidance and it is his desire that all eligible persons must benefit from the social cash transfer program.
Mr. MWEETWA said the government is aware that some public service workers want to frustrate government efforts.
He warned that the government will not tolerate such a kind of work culture.
