Civil society praise UPND for promoting political peace

Civil Society Organisations in Livingstone have commended the government for promoting political peace in the last three years of UPND being in power.

Governance Elections Advocacy Research Services GEARS Initiative Zambia, Livingstone Chapter Focal Point Person ESTHER MWIKISA says by-elections in the last three years have been generally peaceful.

Ms. MWIKISA says this is in contrast to the previous government where there was political violence especially during by-elections.

She has attributed the peaceful atmosphere during by-elections in the last three years to President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA’s peace advocacy.

And Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) Acting Southern Province Chairperson, ENESRT KALUMBI has praised the government for not allowing violence by cadres during elections.

This month marks three years since the UPND formed the government after defeating the Patriotic Front.
