Clergymen back constitutional Amendments
By Adjoe Avamee
Some clergy in Livingstone have backed the proposed constitutional amendments by the government.
Livingstone Gospel Ministers Fellowship-LGMF Secretary DENNIS KAPILA says most of the proposed reforms are in good faith because they aim to enhance service to the people of Zambia.
Pastor KAPILA has cited the proposed delimitation of constituencies as one of the amendments that will ensure development is taken to all parts of the country.
Raining Fire Ministry International Bishop VICTOR PHIRI says constitution reforms have been long overdue because vulnerable groups of people in society such as the disabled have not had proper representation .
Bishop PHIRI says concerns from some members of the public that amending the constitution will be too costly should not even be a topic of discussion because every country in the world grapples with financial issues.
This was brought up during an open discussion on the proposed constitution amendments in Livingstone, organized by Development 360, a non-profit organization dedicated to social and economic justice.
Meanwhile, Development 360 Executive Director CHRISTOPHER LUBASI says the discussion was organized to ensure that diverse groups in Livingstone including Women and youths air out their opinions on the proposed constitutional amendments.
Mr. LUBASI has also disclosed that through its Digital Democratic Governance Project, the organisation targets to train 300 youths in Livingstone, in Local Governance Administration.
