Clerk Advises Early Talks on ZNBC Amendments
By Mary Kachepa
Clerk of the National Assembly, ROY NGULUBE has advised ZNBC Management to engage Members of Parliament on the proposed amendment to the ZNBC and Independent Broadcasting Authority -IBA- Acts.
Mr. NGULEBE says while the draft bills are still with the Executive, ZNBC could start engaging Members of Parliament so that they understand what the amendment will achieve.
He says engaging the Parliamentarians beforehand will ease the work of legislation as the majority of them will have already understood the bill, even before first reading.
And Mr. NGULUBE has disclosed that President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA will on Friday, February 28, 2025, address the National Assembly on progress made on national values and principles.
Mr. NGULUBE was speaking when ZNBC Director-General BERRY LWANDO led a team of Directors to pay a courtesy call on him at the National Assembly in Lusaka today.
Meanwhile, Mr. LWANDO said the draft bills, which are seeking to amend the ZNBC and IBA Acts, are still at the Ministry of Justice.
Mr. LWANDO explained that ZNBC decided to engage the National Assembly before hand to see if there were any issues that need to be addressed as the drafting process is still ongoing.
He reaffirmed commitment to continue collaboration with National Assembly in delivering the mandate of ZNBC to inform and educate the public.
