By Caren Mwaka
China Non-Ferrous Metal Company says the mine will ensure that it continues to create opportunities for the locals.
SHAFT 28 Deputy Chief Executive Officer Technical ROBERT KAMANGA says significant progress in dewatering has been made with an investment of 100 million dollars.
This came to light when Water development and sanitation minister COLLINS NZOVU toured the mine in Luanshya.
And Mr NZOVU said the dewatering process will not only contribute to the Kafue river’s water levels but also support small-scale farmers with irrigation.
He said once operational the mine is expected to create over 3,000 jobs and increase tax contributions by over 23 million dollars.
