Coach Kalembo Confident in Zambia’s Gold Potential at World Championships
By Chansa Kunda
Athletics National Team Coach, Douglas Kalembo, says the country has the potential to mint gold at the World Championships and World Relays this year.
Kalembo says with adequate preparations and a possible international camp, Zambia can contend for gold in both events.
Speaking to ZNBC Sports News during training at the National Heroes Stadium, Kalembo said the athletes have already started preparations, with 50 called for a provisional camp.
Kalembo has called on all eligible athletes to register, as they stand a chance of being roped into the National Team.
With the Heroes Stadium undergoing renovations, 400 meters sprinter Kennedy Luchembe has called for a change of venue as the ongoing works are affecting their sessions.
The World Relays will be held in May in China, with the World Championships slated for Japan in September 2025.
