Copper mines ramp up production to 810,000mt

Minister of Mines PAUL KABUSWE says increased copper production in the three big mines in North-western Province is a sign of continued growth of the mining sector.
Speaking during a media engagement in Kalumbila district, Mr KABUSWE said copper Production now stands at 810,000 metric tons per year.
Mr. KABUSWE who is leading a delegation of ministers visiting the mines in North Western province said with the revival of KCM and Mopani, plus the new mines that President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA is going to open, the goal of three million metric tons of copper production is attainable.
He has also refuted claims of gold at Kansanshi being sold outside the country as it is sold directly to the Bank of Zambia.
