Court Adjourns Sampa’s Trial to February 2025

Trial has started in a matter where former Kasama Central Member of Parliament KELVIN SAMPA is charged with allegedly defrauding a Japanese company, Nakamishi, of 70,000 dollars between July and September 2024.
Mr. SAMPA is facing four counts, among them two counts of theft by agent, illegal possession of forged bank notes, and possession of paper or implements for forgery.
In the first count, it is alleged that Mr. SAMPA was entrusted with 70,000 dollars in cash by KUNIHIRO FUGISHIMA to buy gold on his behalf.
It is alleged that Mr. SAMPA stole the said money belonging to FUGISHIMA.
Mr. SAMPA is also alleged to have possessed 110 forged pieces of 100 U.S. Dollar bank notes on October 9, 2024.
In the fourth count, it is alleged that Mr. SAMPA, on October 9, 2024, knowingly had in his custody or possession 7,622 pieces of light green paper intended to resemble and pass as special paper the size of the United States of America one hundred dollar bill.
When the matter came up for commencement of trial before Principal Resident Magistrate IRENE WISHIMANGA, she adjourned the matter to the 3rd and 4th of February for continuation of trial.
