Court Admits Video in Ethiopians’ Death Case
By Memory Bbuku
The Lusaka High Court has permitted as evidence a recorded interview and scene reconstruction video, in a matter in which 29 Ethiopians, all illegal immigrants, were found dead in Lusaka.
In this case, STEVEN SITALI, a Bus Driver and 2 others, are accused of trafficking into Zambia, the 29 Ethiopians, whose bodies were later discovered dumped in Meanwood area.
High Court Judge, PIXIE #YANGAILO made the ruling, when the matter came up for trial within trial, in order to determine the voluntariness of the accused to scene reconstruction.
Judge YANGAILO said the state, through its witnesses, had proved the requirement for voluntariness, meaning SITALI’s claim that he was harassed and forced into admitting to the offence, was a mere allegation.
Judge YANGAILO has since adjourned the matter to June 12, 2025, for continuation of trial.
