The Court of Appeal has granted former First Lady ESTHER LUNGU leave to appeal against the Economic and Financial Crimes Court’s verdict not to allow her to cross examine state witnesses.
This is in a matter where she is charged with possessing 15 flats deemed to be proceeds of crime.
The application for leave to appeal against the lower Court’s decision was granted by Court of Appeal Judge CATHERINE MUKUNGU.
Defence lawyer CHARLES CHANGANO told Journalists that the application and grounds of appeal were granted because they contained merit.
Mrs. LUNGU’s 15 flats, located in LUSAKA’s State lodge area were forfeited to the state following the Economic and Financial Crimes Court’s Order.
