Lusaka Chief Resident Magistrate DAVIES CHIBWILI has issued an ultimatum for former Defence Permanent Secretary STARDY MWALE to attend trial in his corruption case tomorrow or face the bench.
Magistrate CHIBWILI gave the warning following Mr. MWALE’s absence as his case was called today.
Earlier his surety LIZZY MAKAMBWE told the court that Mr. MWALE is allegedly sick.
Mrs. MAKAMBWE justified her claim by producing a sick note that Mr. MWALE sent to her from CHILILABOMBWE through a WhatsApp Message.
However, Magistrate CHIBWILI insisted that Mr. MWALE together with the author of his alleged sick note must appear before him tomorrow.
Meanwhile Magistrate CHIBWILI has ordered that Mr. MWALE’s co-accused EVARISTO SAKALA, a former Army Secretary must be assessed to ascertain his fitness to stand trial on grounds of his recent road accident.
He ordered that General SAKALA’s physicians must furnish the court with his health status.
This is in a matter Mr. MWALE is facing corruption charges pertaining to 573 million dollars for the procurement of the Gulfstream G650 Presidential Jet.
